Michael Whitby – PGA Professional and Head Teaching Pro

Michael Whitby is the Head PGA Professional at Temple and is an experienced teaching professional with continuous membership of the PGA since 2001. 

Michael offers a full range of lesson options including using his indoor swing studio and video technology to demonstrate areas to improve on for experienced, intermediate, and new golfers,

Michael is extremely passionate about the game of golf: “I am really fortunate because I do what I love which is to coach people and help them in any way I can to improve and enjoy their game more”.  Michael's teaching philosophy is based on positivity, and he aims to build on the best elements of your game and to help you understand your game better.

Mike Upcott - PGA Professional

Mike Upcott has 60 years’ experience in the golf industry and became a PGA Professional at Merchants of Edinburgh Golf Club in 1971.  With decades of coaching experience, we are proud that Mike joined the Temple Coaching team in 2023 and is a great asset to the Club.

Mike’s teaching philosophy is focused on the golfer’s core set-up and posture.  He believes that by concentrating on these areas and keeping swing thoughts simple, golfers can build a strong foundation which leads to consistency and ultimately, improved results.

Mike and his wife Rowena have always been passionate about supporting new and inexperienced players feel part of a golf community and set up the Braywick Golf society in 1992.  The aim of the Society is to bring players together to play, learn and have fun. The Society is still going strong and is a great way to get into golf.
