A testing par 5 from the competition and ladies tees. From the yellow tees the hole is played as a Par 4. A great golf hole that should be played with the head rather than the heart. Although longer hitters can get up in two, the reward is seldom worth the risk. With dense woodland on both sides of the hole and a fairway which slopes down from right to left along the entire length of the hole, the 9th represents a real test of golf.

Pro's Tip

"This is a great risk and reward hole.The sensible plan is to hit a drive to the right side of the fairway and let the slope do the work and then to lay up and attack the pin with your approach shot."

"Apart from the weather (a minor consideration despite the incessant rain which gradually increased towards the end of the round) this was a great day. The course was fantastic and the greens were in great condition despite the rain. The Secretary and all the staff were very accommodating to the point that coffee and biscuits were delivered to the changing room after the round – a welcome sight to 15 bedraggled golfers. The meal and setting was one of the best we have enjoyed and it was unanimously agreed to come again in the summer when good weather could be anticipated!”
